I got the idea to make an insect person hybrid, and with many meters of thread and some red silk this little ant girl was born!
She can be a little shy, and hide behind the petal she collected , but with time she will become braver.

Deep sea mermaid soft sculpture
I have become a bit obsessed with making mermaids, I have 3 more in the works but I managed to concentrate on this one last night to finish her, poor thing only had one arm complete and no fins.
She is made from felt, wire and silk, with glass beads and howlite beads to add texture and detailing.
She is mostly blind, hence her milky blue eyes, but eats well due to the light stalk she has protruding from her forehead.
She is available in my Etsy shop: deep sea mermaid

Praying mantis in green silk
As soon as I made the hummingbird I was hooked on making creatures. I have so many half completed animals I feel guilty. I knew I wanted to make a mantis as I think they are beautiful and strange insects, and it was one the the first I finished.
This green and gold praying mantis was hand made with wire, clay, glass beads and crystals, sequins and silk. Her legs can support her and her arms can be gently rearranged.
Those golden spines are dangerous! I was glad to find these beads, they were perfect for the colour scheme. She has a lot of attitude as you can see.
She is for sale in my etsy store : praying mantis on etsy

Mermaid textile sculpture in bright blues and yellow
This little mermaid is my latest completed piece. I made her using felt and a wire armature, then covered her with silk in vivid blues and yellows.
She has royal blue fins, with one on her head to create a beautiful wave of hair.
She has beaded details on her tail, torso and hands.
I enjoyed making her very much, creating a fish girl meant I could use extremely colourful fabrics.
She is approximately 35cm or just under 14 inches long including her fins.
This mermaid is available to adopt in my etsy shop, Gilded Creatures

A golden hummingbird, my first mixed media textile sculpture
This gold and yellow hummingbird was the first textile sculpture I made, using mixed media in the form of polymer clay and wire, and creating details with sequins and velvet.
He has leather eyes and feet, and a polymer clay beak.
He can stand unsupported, as his feet have a wire frame.
He is permanently looking up, he is very curios!
He was fun to make, and I learnt a lot in the process.
He is for sale on etsy
